Norman Augustine

Norman Augustine graduated from Princeton University where he was awarded Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in aeronautical engineering and was elected to Tau Beta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi. He is a retired Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation and has served as Under Secretary and Acting Secretary of the U.S. Army and as an Assistant Director of Defense Research and Engineering in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and as Chairman of the American Red Cross and President of the Boy Scouts of America. He has chaired the National Academy of Engineering, the Defense Science Board and the Aerospace Industries Association, and served as President of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. A 16-year member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Mr. Augustine has been a member of the NASA Advisory Council, the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board and the Chief of Naval Operations Advisory Council. He is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the International Academy of Astronautics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the American Philosophical Society and a Fellow of the Explorers Club.  A former member of the faculty of the Princeton University, he has received the National Medal of Technology, awarded by the President of the United States, and holds 34 honorary degrees.
